Tyent vs Kangen Water Machine Review

For many years, two names have reigned supreme in water ionization: Tyent and Enagic Kangen water ionizers. When looking at these brands on the surface, they both seem like excellent ionizers. There are a few differences that stood out during our tests.

While both of these brands offer clean, alkaline water, one brand has a slight advantage due to the design of their water filtration and ionization devices. We take a deeper look into these brands and their top products below.

About Kangen (Enagic)

Based in Japan, Enagic has offered water ionizers for 50 years. Their Kangen line of water ionizers is popular across the globe. These machines are known for high-quality alkaline water, and they also provide some filtration and other features, such as ORP.

Part of Enagic’s business model is based on marketing and brand partners that sell products via individual dealers. This has led to some issues for customers who want new, direct Kangen products and support from Enagic.

About Tyent USA

Tyent is a water filtration and ionizer business with headquarters in the US. The company’s founder and president is Joe Boccuti who started researching alkaline water as a way to help his clients lose weight and live healthier lifestyles. His work led him to produce the first water filtration and ionization devices.

Tyent’s water filtration engineering team creates the ultimate countertop water ionizers with multi-stage filtration, smart features, and streamlined design. These are top-of-the-line water ionizers that actually filter out up to 99.9% of all contaminants with most of the newer models.

High-End Water Ionizers

Leveluk SUPER 501

Kangen Leveluk Super 501

The Leveluk Super 501 is an advanced water ionizer for everyday use at home. With an easy-to-use control panel and integrated flow rate detector, this water ionizer can filter out a number of impurities and contaminants while delivering alkaline water.

There are five different water types available. The Leveluk 501 has seven electrode plates and delivers a max ORP range of -850mv. This water ionizer also produces acidic or alkaline water, ranging in pH from 2.5 to 11.5.

Commentary and Features

This ionizer is super powerful. The Leveluk Super 501 uses an HG-N filter with a capacity of 1500 gallons. For everyday use in a 3-person household, you likely would need to change the filter once a year, which is a pretty long filter life for a countertop ionizer.

The Leveluk 501 comes with its own filter made from anti-bacterial activated charcoal combined with sulfurous acidic calcium. From testing, we found this removes 95% of chlorine in city municipality tap water. It also managed to remove about 200 other contaminants.

What We Liked

The best feature of this ionizer is how simple and easy it is to press a button and get the perfect level of alkaline water. This is the main reason customers buy this model, but we also tested its filtration abilities.

In addition, this unit has the ability to customize the ORP range of your water. This means that it can increase the antioxidants in your water to a -850mv level. Some find that this increases the strength of your immune system.

With different modes, you can select clean water (pH of 7), acidic water (pH ranges from 5.5 to 6.6), strong acidic water (pH from 2.4 to 2.7) and Kangen water (pH of 11).

An LCD screen shows you the status of your water, while colored buttons give you clear set water types to select.

What We Don’t Like

Even though this device does have a filter, it’s not a multi-stage filtration device. It won’t be able to filter out some of the smaller particles and bacteria that could be in your water, so it’s best not to use this if you’re looking for more filtration or if you have a well water connection.

This unit doesn’t have as many alkaline customization features as others do at the same price level, which is also disappointing. Tyent makes water ionizers with multi-stage filtration and several smart features, including presets so you can get the exact pH level for your water.

Tyent H2 Hybrid

Tyent H2 Hybrid Water Ionizer

On that note, let’s move on to the comparable Tyent H2 Hybrid. This is a countertop water ionizer and water filter that offers multi-stage filtration and multiple smart features. It’s considered to be the top-of-the-line product from the water filtration brand.

The Tyent H2 Hybrid reduced 99.9% of all contaminants in our water. In addition to its sophisticated design and platinum-coated titanium plates, the Tyent H2 Hybrid also lets you customize several alkaline water types, ranging from pH of 3.0 to 11.0.

Commentary and Features

Part of the reason that this unit is so popular is the engineering behind this device. Tyent uses Twin Cell Technology to feature an electrolysis chamber and dedicated hydrogen cell. This means that you can change the ORP range while also reducing contaminants even down to 0.01 micron.

The touch screen features are easy-to-use and let you know exactly what pH level your water is as you select your options. The molecular hydrogen boost is also an exclusive feature to Tyent. You’ll notice that water tastes cleaner, smoother, and more satisfying because of these features.

With two filters, Tyent ensures that hundreds of contaminants are removed or reduced in your water, including chlorine, lead, arsenic, fluoride, bacteria, cysts, and heavy metals.

What We Liked

The installation and setup is very efficient and easy. This water ionizer works right out of the box. You’ll simply connect to your faucet and turn on to start getting fresh, pure alkaline water with the press of a button. There are multiple presets, including 3 different alkaline levels, 2 acidic levels, and a hydrogen level button.

Unlike water ionizers that only have electrolysis plates, you’ll love the dual filtration in this unit. One filter is carbon-activated, reducing many of the harmful contaminants found in city municipality water. The second filter is made from TM-ceramic material.

When combined, those filters are able to reduce or remove most contaminants while still providing a fast flow rate and low water waste. This is extremely important as you don’t want to waste water and see higher bills because of your countertop alkaline water filter.

Alkaline Electrolysis
Tyent Electrolysis Plates

The Tyent H2 Hybrid also comes with a hydrogen water generator to enhance your water with more antioxidants. This is a huge advantage for your body and offers way more health benefits than many other ionizers on the market.

What Could Be Better

Tyent does an amazing job with their H2 hybrid models. This is probably the best unit on the market if looking for a countertop ionizer that can also filter out water to a higher degree. However, it would be nice if there was a little more filtration and a solution for well water households. You can add different solutions to your water to further remove impurities.

How Tyent H2 Hybrid compares to the Leveluk SUPER 501

Tyent H2 Hybrid Water Ionizer

VS

Kangen Leveluk Super 501

In this head-to-head comparison, we looked at the Leveluk Super 501 and Tyent H2 Hybrid, comparing water quality, taste, ease of use, installation, and customer satisfaction. While both produce great-tasting water, there’s something fresher and smoother about Tyent H2 Hybrid. Maybe it’s the fact that it filters out way more contaminants or that it has more alkaline levels, as well as the ability to customize ORP down to -1050 mv.

Both of these brands do a great job, but you’ll definitely get more value and higher quality water from the Tyent H2 Hybrid. In addition, Tyent includes a lifetime warranty with their products. Enagic only provides a 5-year warranty for the Leveluk series.

Leveluk K8

With higher end water ionizers, you want more electrolysis plates, higher pH ranges, and high flow rates. Enagic Kangen water ionizers do produce higher quality results, especially with the Enagic K8 model.

However, for a premium water ionizer, we were expecting more features. We found that this water ionizer has a single filter that must be replaced every six months, but it can reduce most chlorine, lead, bad odors, and other contaminants.

There are a few selection for different water types, but you don’t have the functionality to set your own pH levels.

Commentary and Features

The K8 has a single carbon filter that reduces some contaminants; however, it doesn’t work for removing heavy metals, salts, and bacteria. For Kangen water, you’ll be able to select one preset that goes up to 7.6 pH. There’s also a preset for acidic water and stronger acidic water, as well as clean water.

The Enagic K8 also includes a color-coded touch-screen design with a few smart features. You can select a water type with one touch. There are some adjustments for pH level and checking filter capacity. There’s also a self-cleaning feature, and you can adjust ORP levels.

What We Liked

The Enagic K8 is a small, lightweight countertop water ionizer that easily fits anywhere around your sink. The LCD panel is pretty nifty and allows you to select and see multiple water types with pH ranges.

With 8 electrolysis plates, you can select five different water types ranging from 2.5 to 11.5 pH. While you can’t customize your pH exactly, each water dispenses with a simple press of a button.

The flow rate is also quite fast, delivering 6 to 7 liters per minute. It’s easy to hook up to your faucet and start dispensing alkaline water in a few minutes. You’ll also like that it saves on water and offers an automatic shutoff to save on power and water when you’re not using it.

The single filter is pretty strong, reducing most toxins for a 95% pure result. There’s also a self-cleaning mode that triggers after each ionization cycle.

What We Don’t Like

While this ionizer looks and feels like a sophisticated system, the technology is actually quite old. The LCD panel only lets you select a few options in comparison to other models that also allow you to select your own pH levels.

The other issue is filtration. We’re used to multi-stage filtration and expect something of this price level to have at least dual filtration. However, everything else about this water ionizer is pretty straightforward and easy to use.

How Tyent H2 Hybrid compares to the Leveluk K8

Tyent H2 Hybrid Water Ionizer

VS

Kangen Leveluk K8

While the K8 is a bit higher quality than the Leveluk Super 501 due to its design and LCD panel, it still doesn’t touch the Tyent H2 Hybrid’s capabilities. For one, Tyent has included two powerful filters in their model to remove 99.9% of all contaminants.

Additionally, there’s smarter functionality and combinations available if you want a higher pH or a specific pH for a cleaning solution. For instance, you can create acidic water for cleaning beauty supplies and makeup brushes with the Tyent H2 Hybrid.

Finally, Enagic’s 5-year warranty is pretty decent, but Tyent offers direct customer support and a lifetime warranty. There has been some seriously bad reports about parts missing and malfunctions from Kangen Leveluk products.

Tyent ACE-13

Tyent ACE-13 Water Ionizer

The Tyent ACE-13 is another popular model of countertop water ionizer if you want a lower price point and don’t mind the missing hydrogen water generation feature.

That said, this is one of the most powerful countertop ionizers due to its 13 platinum-coated titanium plates, wide pH level range, and ORP customization options.

With its smart features, long filter life, and easy-to-use design, the Tyent ACE-13 has been highly praised for its capabilities and smart engineering.

Commentary and Features

The Tyent ACE-13 comes with dual filtration including a carbon block filter and a TM-ceramic filter. The 1st stage filter doesn’t have synthetic resin binders, making it more effective against rest, chlorine, VOCs, and sediment particles. The second filter reduces impurities down to a .01 micron rating.

In addition to an incredible 13 electrolysis plate build, this model also allows you to customize your water’s pH from 1.7 to 12.0. You can also adjust the max negative ORP to -1050mV.

However, a crucial feature of this design is the 360-degree water dispenser. This offers more flexibility and range when trying to get your perfect glass of alkaline water in the kitchen. There are 8 different water settings, including 3 alkaline, 3 acidic, 1 neutral, and 1 turbo alkaline.

The motion proximity sensor is also a new feature that allows for automatic water flow, delivering clean, fresh alkaline water on demand.

There are a ton of smart features on this model including a water quantity selector, eco mode, self-cleaning mode, and voice alerts with volume control. The filter indicator also lets you know when you need to replace a filter.

What We Liked

This water ionizer delivers a refreshing glass of alkaline water in seconds. It’s extremely fast and dispenses on-demand with just a wave of your hand. You can choose a number of different alkaline or acidic water types using the LCD touch screen and JOG dial control.

The filters are rated for 950 gallons, which is around six months of heavy use. If you’re not a heavy alkaline water drinker, then you may only need to replace the filter once per year.

With a quick test, we found that this ionizer can reduce contaminants to 99.9% pure results, removing harmful toxins like chlorine, lead, arsenic, chromium-6, bacteria, cysts, viruses, and more.

Filter replacement is extremely easy, and the unit is fun to use with its 360-degree water spout. You can place this filter on either side of your sink and enjoy a quick glass of alkaline water.

What Could Be Better

Installation can take a little bit of time if you’re not used to an acidic ionized water output device, but this is only used so you can customize your water for cleaning solutions or beauty cleaning solutions.

Additionally, this unit can remove fluoride but only if you buy a special pre-filter separately made from activated alumina and KDF-55 carbon filter.

How Tyent ACE-13 compares to the Leveluk K8

Tyent ACE-13 Water Ionizer

VS

Kangen Leveluk K8

There’s so much to love about the Tyent ACE-13, and you honestly can’t really compare it to the Leveluk K8 in a head-to-head comparison. The ACE-13 has way more electrolysis plates and options, though technically the Tyent ACE-13 is a cheaper model in comparison to the Tyent H2 Hybrid.

Most customers find that Tyent offers a better product due to its higher filtration level as well. You’ll get twice the filtration and water purity than Leveluk K8.

Mid-Range Water Ionizers

Leveluk SD501 Platinum

Kangen Leveluk SD501 Platinum

Enagic offers several different Leveluk models, including a lower cost model called the Enagic SD501 Platinum.

This is a compact countertop ionizer with a few different button selections. It’s quite simple to use and offers 7 platinum-coated titanium plates. When tested, these were 99.97% pure titanium electrode plates, which allow for larger pH ranges. You can create five different water types with this model.

Commentary and Features

The Enagic SD501 is a top-quality ionizer that offers a pH range of 2.5 to 11.5. The backlit panel allows you to easily select the type of water you want, while also dispensing water quickly into your glass.

The SD501 Platinum version is a newer model that has a sleeker design than some of the older Kangen ionizers. You can use this ionizer to create clean water, Kangen water, acidic, strongly acidic, and alkaline water.

Enagic also markets the multiple language feature. The unit does announce when filter life is low in five different languages. It’s very user-friendly and easy to use.

What We Liked

The Leveluk SD501 Platinum is a higher-quality water ionizer with a single high-grade HG-N filter. It also includes a cleaning cartridge, electrolysis enhancer, and ORP customization.

You’ll be able to create most of the popular pH levels with this machine for five different water types. With 7 titanium plates, it has a modern design and delivers Kangen water with a press of a button. Kangen water is the term for the ultra-alkaline option, which is above 8.0 pH.

What We Don’t Like

While Enagic claims to have smart features and speaks in five different languages, this unit isn’t really as developed as its competitors. The “LCD panel” is more of a backlit panel that just tells you which type of water you selected and what pH output you’ll receive.

The voice options on this machine make it slightly annoying. You can turn this feature off if you like.

We also found that this filter doesn’t remove as many contaminants as the Tyent models. While it can reduce chlorine, you’ll still find some higher levels of toxins and bacteria, particularly if you have a well water system.

Tyent UCE-13 Plus

Tyent UCE-13 Plus Water Ionizer

If you’re looking for a smarter, convenient under-sink water ionizer, then the Tyent UCE-13 Plus is the perfect option. It’s one of the smartest filtration and ionization devices on the market, including an LCD panel right on the water dispenser that you can place next to your faucet.

In addition, we found the installation of this under sink water ionizer to be quite easy. In less than 10 minutes, you have an awesome, smart water dispenser that delivers all kinds of alkaline or acidic water options.

Commentary and Features

The Tyent UCE-13 Plus was made to impress. As Undersink water filters go, this is one of the sleekest, lightweight designs we’ve ever seen. You don’t spend any time on installation besides hooking up your water line, which is fairly easy with Tyent’s instructions and videos.

This water ionizer also has two filters that deliver 99.9% clean alkaline water. The high-grade activated carbon filter and TM composite ceramic filters allow the ionizer to also reduce contaminants to a small .01 micron size.

It also has 13 electrolysis plates allowing for endless options for alkaline and acidic water types. You can get a pH between 1.7 and 12 with each of these options. You can also program the water ionizer to get the pH levels you want every time.

What We Liked

The best part about this ionizer is the design and water purity. It’s extremely easy to go from setup to water dispensing alkaline water. We had the machine running in less than 15 minutes, and the flow rate is just like your water faucet.

The LCD panel on the water dispenser turns your kitchen sink into a modern faucet with several selections that dispense at the touch of a button. You can create cleaning solutions with low acidic pH levels or create neutral and extreme alkaline levels using the other options. There are actually 55 different settings available.

It’s also much faster than many other countertop and Undersink water ionizers. You’ll be able to dispense a half gallon of water per minute. There’s also a filter life indicator that lets you see exactly when filters need to be changed.

What Could Be Better

The unit is a bit bulky to place at first, but once you find a spot under your sink, it slides in easily and you simply need to hook up the water lines to get it going. This isn’t extremely difficult, but you’ll want a few tools and may need to watch a video if you’re uncomfortable around plumbing.

How Tyent UCE-13 Plus compares to the Leveluk SD501 Platinum

Tyent UCE-13 Plus Water Ionizer

VS

Kangen Leveluk SD501 Platinum

You’ll like the way Tyent UCE 13 water tastes and looks. It’s extremely pure and smooth with a 99.99% clean test. While the Level SD501 platinum is a premium product, it’s quite ugly to look at and takes up a lot of space on your countertop. It’s also not as intuitive or modern as the Tyent UCE-13 Plus. It doesn’t matter that the Leveluk SD501 Platinum can speak five different languages, though this seems to be a huge selling point for Enagic.

In addition, the Tyent ACE-13 is a more convenient model with many of the same features as the UCE-13 Plus, only you don’t have to worry about installation since it’s a countertop ionizer with dual filtration. The ACE-13 also has an advantage over the Leveluk SD501 because of its filter strength and electrolysis plates. However, you can also customize your water’s pH more specifically with this unit in comparison to the SD501.

Entry-Level Water Ionizers

Kangen Leveluk JRIV

Kangen Leveluk JRIV

For a smaller and cheaper water ionizer, the Kangen Leveluk JRIV does a great job to produce alkaline water with only four electrode plates. It’s not as heavy on energy consumption as some of the other water ionizers. Due to its solid platinum-coated titanium plates, this water ionizer still produces incredible Kangen alkaline water and strong acid water types.

Commentary and Features

Just like other Kangen ionizers, the Leveluk JRIV produces five different water types. It’s strange that the same water types and single high-grade filter can create the same water types efficiently across all levels and price ranges under Enagic.

However, we found that this model has a similar filter capacity, reducing most contaminants by 95 percent. This model does have lower power consumption, but it’s not recommended for heavy use.

What We Liked

The price point does equal more value with the Leveluk JRIV. Since it has a smaller frame and older design, it’s not as expensive but still manages to produce high-quality alkaline water with a press of a button.

The Leveluk JRIV is easy to use and set up. You can take it out of the box and start dispensing alkaline water within minutes.

This model only has one high-grade carbon block filter, as well as 1 cleaning cartridge. As a “junior model,” it is considered a starter model and only produces Kangen water, neutral water, beauty water, strong acidic water, and strong Kangen water.

What We Don’t Like

This is a smaller, older unit with a pretty loud design. It’s not as modern as other models and doesn’t have any smart features. However, it is super easy to use.

This model also won’t work for heavy everyday use. It’s recommended only for a single person and possibly couples.

Kangen Leveluk R (Discontinued)

Kangen Leveluk R

Enagic also created the Kangen Leveluk R for those who want a compact countertop ionizer that gets the job done. This unit only has 3 platinum-coated titanium plates. These plates measure 118 by 82 mm. They also produce antioxidant water with a negative ORP of -350mV. This product has been discontinued and is no longer available.

Tyent EDGE 9000 Turbo

Tyent Edge 9000 Turbo Water Ionizer

The newest model from Tyent is the Edge 9000 Turbo. This is a countertop ionizer with nine electrolysis plates. It comes with a stainless steel front panel and faucet, as well as a JOG dial to instantly customize the pH level of your water.

Commentary and Features

You’ll love the design of this countertop ionizer if you want something sleek and modern. However, it’s also quite compact and easy to use. The colorful touch screen makes it easy to select each water type, ranging from very alkaline to extremely acidic. You can create beauty water, cleaning solutions, alkaline water, neutral water, and many other combinations.

It’s also got an easy front door filter loading operation, 360-degree water dispenser, and auto-fill quality selector.

Like all Tyent products, this new unit also features dual filtration. The Tyent Edge 9000 includes both a carbon block filter and TM-ceramic filter. This reduces and removes contaminants, including suspended solids over 0.5-5 micron, which means rust, sand, sediment, chlorine, lead, arsenic, and bacteria are removed from your water.

What We Liked

You can easily set up and use the Tyent Edge 9000 in less than 5 minutes. The design is rounded and made from stainless steel so it should fit in with any kitchen and space requirements. The display also uses an LCD touch screen so you can easily select the type of water you want, and it includes a hydrogen boost feature.

This model has 3 alkaline, 1 neutral, 2 acidic, and turbo alkaline modes as well as a self-cleaning option. A few safety functions are also included like an automatic stop feature, supply water sensor, and door sensor. There’s a filter life indicator to remind you when filters need to be changed.

The best part about this countertop filter is the quality of water and purity. You’ll be able to create any alkaline water type with 99.9% contaminant-free results.

This model also has a longer filter life of 6 to 9 months, and Tyent includes a lifetime warranty and customer support.

What Could Be Better

The JOG dial can be a little confusing to use at first, so it’s best to check the directions and see how to customize your water using this feature.

How Tyent Edge 9000 Compares to the Leveluk JRIV

Tyent Edge 9000 Turbo Water Ionizer

VS

Kangen Leveluk JRIV

Tyent has a few advantages to Kangen products. While the Leveluk JRIV may be slightly less expensive than the Tyent Edge, it’s not as smart or modern. You’ll get more usage and options with the Edge 9000 than both the Leveluk JRIV and Leveluk R.

In addition, Tyent Edge has more electrolysis plates and delivers way more alkaline modes. You don’t have to settle for less, and you don’t have to monitor your usage as the output and filter life is built for a higher capacity with Tyent products.

Here’s Why We Strongly Recommend Tyent Water Ionizers over the Kangen Water Machines

Tyent UCE-13 Plus Water Ionizer

VS

Kangen Leveluk R

A Kangen water machine has the potential to be really simple and easy for alkaline water lovers. However, there a few things about these products that make them seem older and less functional than competitors. For example, a Kangen water machine like the Leveluk line don’t have as many filters or electrolysis plates as Tyent products.

In addition, have you seen a Kangen machine and used the buttons? It feels like the products haven’t been updated in the last decade. Their products don’t hold up to the same features, such as full LCD displays and multiple programmable presets that users can customize for the right pH level.

If you’re looking at a Kangen machine, you should also check that it’s a factory direct product and not refurbished. Many Kangen water reviews reveal that customers received used or older products that didn’t have the same functionality or broke after only a few users. Customers generally don’t like the pushy sales marketing strategy of Enagic dealers either. You should all Kangen water reviews before buying any of the Kangen water system products.

Smart Features

While Enagic water does a great job of marketing products, their Kangen water system isn’t equipped with more than 5 water types. This is pretty limiting, and besides multi-language support and self-cleaning options, these don’t feel as modern as other competitors, including Tyent H2 Hybrid or even Tyent ACE-13 models.

Warranty and Customer Support

Enagic water offers a shorter warranty than Tyent, limiting to only five years. Many reviews of their products and low ratings also suggest that individual dealers may not be as honest about the warranties or refurbished products. Their customer support is lacking in this area, so many customers have received poorly produced systems with no hope of parts or replacement even though it was supposed to be covered by a warranty.
